Job Description

EvergreenHealth is committed to providing the highest quality of care to our patients.  The literature shows that having a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) contributes significantly to the quality of care.  Toward that end, this position requires a BSN or a commitment to begin a BSN program within three years and obtain a BSN within five years of employment.  Please note this BSN requirement does not apply to EvergreenHealth RN's hired prior to April 1, 2014.

Job Summary:

Responsible for the total direct nursing care of all patients within established standards of care, hospital and unit policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Uses computer and telephone for 100% of day to day work activity.

Handles both inbound and outbound calls for symptom-based triage, health information, physician and resource referral, and disease/care management.

Utilizes clinical decision support tools (computer generated guidelines, health topics and medication topics, an audio library, and Medical Advisory Board approved library of current texts) along with sound nursing judgment to perform clinical activity. 

Documents thorough demographics, health history, problem, assessment, information or guideline used, disposition, care advice given callers understanding, intended action and appropriate call tracking.

Performs assessment that: a. Includes age specific growth and development needs & b.

Uses the nursing process to provide care for individual patients or defined patient population over the telephone.

Utilizes professional training and expertise to maintain a health information service with a high level of clinical integrity and quality.  

Minimum Qualifications:

License, Certification, Education or Experience:

REQUIRED for the position:

• Bachelor's in Nursing (BSN) required within 5 years of employment if applicable

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington

• Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification by date of hire

DESIRED for the position:

• Master's degree in Nursing
